SEED Ecovillage

Finca Tierra is a partner in SEED (Society for Ecological Education and Development), which is located in the foothills above the Caribbean beach village of Cahuita, here in Costa Rica. One of the long-term projects on the 370-acre SEED property is a land-based ecovillage agricommunity.

The half-hectare (1.25-acre) ecovillage agricommunity housing sites are near the seven-hectare community space, which includes recreational spaces, food forest, grain production, and animal housing. The remaining space is reserved for reforestation, wildlife preservation, and sustainable forest management for products like wood, palm leaves for roofing, wild medicinals, and other forestry resources.

Other features of SEED include rainforest hiking trails, a wonderful waterfall, and two beautiful rivers for swimming and fishing. SEED is located near Cahuita National Park and Puerto Viejo.
